Hello JECHS - There is no more critical question any human in any
era of history can ask than, "Who is Jesus?" May this blog be a place where God
reveals His Son to us individually and corporately.
To the Glory of God...by the power of His Spirit....we blog!

ReplyDeleteThere is NOTHING I can do to remove my sin, but the Lamb of God, Jesus the Messiah, God in the flesh has done it all for me. Amazing and wonderful. That knowledge fils me with gratitude and a desire to live for Him and honor Him.
Covered in the Dust
ReplyDeleteRachael told me about him
There was a glow in her face as she spoke
I can’t believe she is falling for this Rabbi
Yet she seemed happy
At peace with life
Covered in the dust of her Rabbi
No way am I going to be that silly
To give my life to following some wandering rabbi
Especially that one
Shunned by all our leaders
A motley crew strung out behind him
Covered in the dust of their Rabbi
Then I saw him
Speaking with and teaching his disciples about God
His eyes met mine
Piercing my walls, exposing my sin,
Flooding my heart with…Love?
His disciples moved on with him,
Covered in the dust of their Rabbi
But though I ran away
That gaze pursued my heart
Wooed me, called to me
I didn’t want him to look at me like that
But his love drew me to his side
Now I wanted to be covered in the dust of this Rabbi
To be covered with his dust, I needed to walk ever so close to him
I followed him,
Sometimes near but other times I strayed
Tempted by the glittering world,
Reaching out to grab something that will satisfy the thirst
Not always willing to be covered by his dust,
The dust of the Rabbi.
I stumbled and fell behind
Wept at my choices
Then he came
Offered that hand of help and love
Eyes full of mercy and compassion, forgiveness
I rose, at peace, with Shalom, ready now to be held in his arms of love
Falling into his gaze of truth and mercy
Willing to be covered with his dust,
The dust of my Rabbi
Now I stick “closer than a brother”
Never taking my eyes off him
Walking step for step
Holding on to his words
Words of life
Words of grace
Satisfying my thirst with his truth
Covered in the dust of my Rabbi
Sometimes it is so dark
I cannot see my rabbi’s cloak ahead of me
There is no moon to give me light
But I listen for his voice
Guiding me, calling me near,
“Follow me closely, my daughter
Be covered in the dust of your Rabbi”
And here is where I will stay
Listening to his words
Measuring what I see by his truth
Clinging to his love and mercy
Seeking his forgiveness when I fail
Covered in his dust
Covered in the dust of my Rabbi
Jamie - this is very powerful! Thank you for sharing!
DeleteTwo thoughts came to mind as I read this first chapter. One: very interesting to read about all the different views of "the Lamb" - familiar with all, but so good to be reminded that all of them fit our Lord. Two deals with page 10: "It is another thing altogether to speak of Jesus and His Gospel in a society that thinks it has 'heard it all before' and has written Him off." My cousin is dying - she's in her late sixties and has never wanted to have anything to do with Jesus. She probably thinks she has "heard it all before" - but she hasn't met Him yet! I'm praying desperately that she comes to Him in this, her eleventh hour.
ReplyDeleteI also gave serious thought to the descriptions of sin - never really considered it in those ways before. Enlightening!
